Dear AHS Member,
The Nominating Committee is requesting your input in shaping the future membership of the Board of Directors. We invite you to share in the nominations process by placing a name (or names) in nomination for election to the Board of Directors by November 1st in any given calendar year. The nominating committee receives and considers all nominations recorded through November 1st each year.
Candidates for the Board of Directors are elected by the AHS membership to serve for three-year terms. One-third of the directors are elected annually to provide continuity. Board members may serve two consecutive three year terms. The Board of Directors elects six officers: the President, 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer and the Chairman of the Board, from among its members. Officers terms are two years, and candidates are eligible to serve two consecutive two-year terms.
The Executive Committee is composed of the six officers listed above plus three additional directors appointed by the Chairman of the Board, in consultation with the President. The Executive Committee meets monthly and is charged with the responsibility of carrying out the work of the AHS in between the meetings of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee meets in person one or two times during the year and at the beginning of each national meeting, in addition to monthly video conferences.
The Board of Directors meets in person annually in June, and online in October and February. Candidates for election to the Board need to be reasonably certain they can be available to attend the annual national meetings during their terms on the Board. Board members sign confidentiality and conflict of interest documents, and agree to abide by AHS's Mutual Roles & Responsibilities.
We look forward to your participation in the nominations and elections process.
