Welcome to the website of the American Harp Society, Inc., the largest service organization for harpists in the world. Our mission is to celebrate our legacy, inspire excellence, and empower the next generation of harpists, goals we strive to accomplish through our programmatic offerings, publications, chapter and regional networking structure, and our annual national events. It is my honor to serve as the President of the AHS and, with the other elected officers and members of the Board of Directors we will do our best to engage with our mission on behalf of our membership. We welcome your exploration of this website and the myriad offerings of the Society. Come and join us, as we strive to do the best we can on behalf of the harp, harpists, and music.

Please contact me at president@harpsociety.org if I may be of service to you.

Kela WaltonWelcome from the AHS, Inc. Chairman of the Board Kela Walton

Welcome to the online home of the The American Harp Society, Inc. I personally encourage you to explore this website, get involved at the chapter or regional level, attend our national events , participate in our various programs , read our publications , and enjoy the many benefits of membership .

The AHS has been essential to my development as a harpist for most of my life. I was first introduced to the AHS as a twelve-year-old harp student participating in my chapter's Music Education Auditions and Evaluations program in Texas. Even as a child, I could see the AHS is a community that welcomes everyone who enjoys working with this fascinating and rewarding instrument, including me — an average beginning harp student. Today, I am deeply grateful for the mentorship I have received and the knowledge I continue to gain by engaging in all our Society has to offer.

If you identify as a student, teacher, composer, performer, therapist, manufacturer, publisher, or the world's biggest harp fan — join us! Together we can inspire each other in every facet of our harp lives. My story is not unique, and I hope you too will find the immeasurable value in belonging to the American Harp Society.

It is my honor to serve the harp community as your Chairman of the Board. Together with my fellow board members we will continue the important work of celebrating our legacy, inspiring excellence, and empowering the next generation of harpists.
