- Two works commissioned for 50th Anniversary of AHS.
We are very pleased to announce that Lowell Liebermann has been commissioned to write a solo work for harp and Michael Torke has been commission to write a work for solo harp with woodwinds, brass, and percussion to be premiered at the 2012 National Conference in New York City, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the American Harp Society.

Members receive the American Harp Journal twice yearly, as well as the annual AHS Teachers Forum and Regional Newsletters. We hold a National Conference every other year, offering world-class workshops, master classes, exhibits, and concerts. In the alternate years, we hold the combined AHS National Competition and Summer Institute featuring outstanding student performances and programming. Our aim is to promote and foster the appreciation of the harp as a musical instrument, to encourage the composition of music for the harp and to improve the quality of performance of harpists.
