Ahs Seeks Marketing & Communications Professional
Do you have professional experience in communications and marketing? Do you like to write, and to create promotional campaigns? Do you have strong graphic, social media and web site skills? Then we want to hear from you.
The AHS Board of Directors has provided funding for a part-time independent contractor to strengthen the Society's communications and help advance membership and national event attendance. If this sounds like you, please review the downloadable job description. Also feel free to pass this announcement on to non-members you may know who might have an interest. Candidates should submit a cover letter outlining their qualifications and interest in the position to execdirector@harpsociety.org. No calls, please.
We are sad to report the passing on August 27th of AHS life member Sam Milligan, surrounded by friends who played his music on a little harp and shared a lifetime of stories. Sam was 87.
Samuel Milligan is probably best known for the educational materials he has published for lever harp, but up until retirement in 2000, he also worked as a harp technician, mainly in the Metropolitan New York City area, for 43 years.
Sam Milligan was a member of AHS since the beginning, and was, in fact, a member of the New York Chapter from the time it was founded by Marcel Grandjany. He was the first editor of the American Harp Journal, and continued to contribute articles for many years. In addition, Milligan was the American Harp Society liaison to the Historical Harp Society, in which he remained active.
